City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) recently hosted the Mainland China Career Fair Series with the Guangzhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau (HRSSGZ) and the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau (HRSSSZ) on campus, providing opportunities for students to explore diverse career paths in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Organised by the Career and Leadership Centre of the Student Development Services (SDS), the career fairs attracted hundreds of students, who met with representatives from the two government bureaux and mainland corporations. The event helped the students learn more about the job market in the Mainland and useful recruitment information to help plan their careers at an early stage. Nineteen mainland corporations participated in the two fairs.

The first recruitment fair, organised in collaboration with the HRSSGZ, was held on 25 September. It showcased over 400 job opportunities from 15 GBA corporations covering various industries and professions.

The second career roadshow, organised in partnership with the HRSSSZ, was held on 27 September. It provided many job opportunities in four prominent corporations: ZTE, Tencent, Bank of China Shenzhen Branch and ZURU.

Professor Dannii Yeung, Associate Provost (Student Life), and Professor Toh Kian-lam, Director of the SDS, met with representatives from the HRSSGZ and HRSSSZ, respectively. They also visited the fairs and took the opportunity to talk with the participating students to learn about their career aspirations.

This was the first time that the Career and Leadership Centre organised the CityUHK Mainland China Career Fair Series. Going forward, the University will collaborate with other mainland major cities to hold various career fairs.
