Full Story
As a visionary leader, he has built a successful enterprise offering one-stop services, from R&D to marketing electronics and technology products, while providing steadfast support for CityUHK, where he has spearheaded meaningful partnerships between academia and industry.
As the Convenor of the Fourth Steering Committee and Honorary President of the CityUHK Industrial and Business Leaders Circle, a platform that unites business elites, industry experts and faculty, Mr Chuang recognises the immense potential and pivotal role of university–industry collaboration. He firmly believes that sharing experience and resources, transferring technology and expertise and nurturing talent is crucial to fostering innovation while creating mutual benefits for CityUHK and the industry.
Mr Chuang’s unwavering commitment to cultivating the next generation of innovators exemplifies his support for HK Tech 300, CityUHK’s flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme, and the CityUHK Academy of Innovation. As a member of the selection panel for HK Tech 300, he helps to identify and nurture the most promising ventures. As an adjunct professor at the Academy, he shares his valuable practical experience with young minds interested in venture creation.
Mr Chuang praises these innovative initiatives for successfully connecting CityUHK with industry. Noting that one of the critical challenges faced by start-ups in Hong Kong is filling the gap between R&D and production, Mr Chuang sees CityUHK (Dongguan) as an opportunity to bridge this divide and forge better collaborations with local government and industry.
Mr Chuang is also a Board Member and Honorary Vice-President of the CityUHK Foundation. In addition to attracting resources from the industry, he generously donates to support the University’s research development. Echoing CityUHK’s Endowment Campaign, he has set up an endowment fund for the “Steve Chuang Mainland Work Attachment Scholarships” that he hopes will provide sustainable financial support for students who will intern in mainland China.
“CityUHK is committed to innovation and has achieved remarkable strides in recent years. I am delighted to be a part of this family, working closely with our CityUHK community to drive social and economic development,” Mr Chuang says. He is pursuing the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme at CityUHK to deepen his academic pursuits. Through his multifaceted contributions, Mr Chuang has demonstrated his dedication and aspiration to advance with the University.
