Full Story
Mr Jung began his leadership journey as a part-time sales executive during his high school summer vacations, when he learned the value of hard work and financial planning. After finishing his higher-education studies and getting started on his career path, he decided to pursue postgraduate studies to improve his management skills.
In 2012, he pursued a master’s degree in Global Business Management at CityUHK, the first programme of its kind in Hong Kong. This programme aims to equip students with the skills needed to conduct business across the globe, enabling them to assimilate the global dimensions of key business functions.
Grateful for his education at CityUHK, Mr Jung became a staunch supporter of the University. He believes in giving back to his alma mater through various initiatives that directly benefit CityUHK. One notable contribution is setting up an endowment fund with his wife to support the development of the Indra and Harry Banga Gallery.
Mr Jung has participated in various CityUHK alumni activities and served as a General Executive Committee Member of the Department of Management Alumni Association to foster bonds with fellow alumni.
He has also engaged with CityUHK students through the University’s Alumni Ambassador Scheme and a mentorship programme offered by the College of Engineering. He shares his valuable work experience, insights and advice with students, helping them navigate the challenging job market and prepare for their careers.
Recognising the importance of holistic development, Mr Jung emphasises essential competencies beyond academic excellence. He encourages students to cultivate a strong work ethic, and to develop strong interpersonal skills and a global vision.
Mr Jung also actively serves in various roles in the local community, such as being a member of the District Fire Safety Committee (Yau Tsim Mong District) and Deputy Director of the HKUYA Student Affairs Committee. By supporting a range of training, exchange programmes and internships, as well as the operation of “BeLIVING Youth Hub”, a youth hostel project under the HKUYA, he helps young people develop essential skills, expand their networks and integrate more effectively into the workplace.
One of the driving forces behind Mr Jung’s support for youth development is his desire to set a good example for his children. As a father, he understands the importance of instilling the values of empathy, compassion and social responsibility in the next generation. He hopes that his commitment to giving back will inspire his children and future generations.
Mr Jung’s story showcases the transformative power of determination, resilience and a commitment to personal growth. He embodies the spirit of helping others to help themselves, thus making a lasting impact on both CityUHK and the wider community.
