President's Lecture Series: Excellence in Academia
Europe has extensive experience harmonising consumer law. The efforts to extend this to the field of contract law and private law more generally have been less successful. In his talk “Harmonisation of consumer and contract law: Any lessons from Europe for Asia?”, Professor Geraint Howells, Chair Professor of Commercial Law and Dean of CityU’s School of Law, will argue that Europe has elements of a powerful consumer policy that risks being undermined by excessive concern for internal market dimensions. He will examine what lessons might apply to Asia. The talk, part of the President's Lecture Series: Excellence in Academia, will take place on 26 October. For more information, click here.
