New Convocation Committee
The inauguration ceremony of CityUˇ¦s Second Standing Committee of the Convocation was held on 9 February, setting the stage for their continued effort to strengthen the ties between alumni and their collective bond to the University. Sixteen alumni pledged to support CityUˇ¦s development and to serve the community with sincerity, integrity and dedication. |

Distinguished Alumni
Dr Alice Chong Ming-lin, Associate Professor, and Dr Annis Fung Lai-chu, Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Social Studies, have been honoured as winners of the 60th Anniversary Distinguished Alumni Award from the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at The University of Hong Kong. Dr Chong and Dr Fung were two of 60 alumni selected from among the last 60 years of graduates. The award recognises their outstanding achievements and contributions to the community.

Society honour
The second Induction Ceremony of the CityU Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma will be held on 26 February by the College of Business. Mr Peter Wong Tung-shun, Group Managing Director, HSBC Holdings, and Chief Executive Officer, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, will be conferred the Chapter Honouree Award by Professor Wei Kwok-kee, Dean of the College of Business, at the ceremony. Beta Gamma Sigma is the international society serving business programmes accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.

Marathon
A CityU delegation, led by University President Professor Way Kuo, is taking part in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon on 28 February. Following an overwhelming response, 739 participants will participate, including 283 students, 361 alumni and 82 staff and 13 dependants.

Wellness March
This yearˇ¦s Wellness March programme, which promotes mental and physical well-being, has been finalised. The promotional month organised by the Student Development Services (SDS) includes physical pursuits such as rowing, running, outdoor treks, and talks and workshops about diet, stress, pollution, pilates, Arctic exploration and medical and dental issues. The annual CityU Badminton and Table-tennis Tournament organised by the Human Resources Office and SDS (PE Section), is being held to encourage the CityU community to participate in sports activities. Registration is open until 5 March.

Staff party
To bring colleagues together to celebrate the lunar new year, the Human Resources Office is hosting the Year of the Tiger Chinese New Year Staff Party on 24 February. There will be a buffet lunch, a fun-filled celebratory schedule and Chinese handicraft stalls. We wish you and your family good health and a happy and successful year. Kung Hei Fat Choy!
