Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) Distinguished Lecture
Investigating how science can better understand diseases like cancer is an important aspect of our research endeavours at CityU. Tumour metastasis, the main cause of cancer death, is a dynamic and complex process that involves cancer cells leaving the primary tumour, entering blood circulation, invading a distant organ, and forming a new tumour. In his online HKIAS Distinguished Lecture titled “Single Cell Analysis of Tumor Heterogeneity During Cancer Metastasis” on 18 February, Professor Michael Yang Mengsu, Vice-President (Research and Technology), will discuss his research into how biochemical gradients and mechanical constraints regulate cancer cell migration and alter their phenotypes, and how tumour heterogeneity affects cancer cell transition and metastasis.
