New Faculty Orientation

To help new hires settle into life at CityU, the New Faculty Orientation 2020 has been scheduled for 4 September. President Way Kuo will offer some opening remarks before a series of talks takes place: CityU Overview and Being Successful and Engaged at CityU; Teaching and Learning, and Quality Assurance at CityU; Research and Postgraduate Studies at CityU; and Preventing Sexual Harassment at CityU. An evening reception with deans, department heads, faculty mentors and senior management will round off the day.



Virtual Industrial Day

The College of Engineering and the Federation of Hong Kong Industries will present Virtual Industrial Day on 11 September. Kudos

Ir Professor Lim Chee-wah of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering was recently awarded the prestigious 2020 JN Reddy Medal for “significant and original contributions to vibration of plates and shells, smart piezoelectric structures, nanomechanics, and symplectic elasticity”. The JN Reddy Medal was established in 2018 and is conferred in recognition of distinguished contributions to the field of mechanics of advanced materials and structures. More information can be found here.

PhD student Stephen Kugbere Agadagba of the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) has been awarded the HKIE Outstanding Paper Award for Young Engineers/Researchers 2020 for his paper “Modulation of Narrowband and Broadband Gamma Connectivity in Retinal Degeneration Mice According to Electrical Stimulation Pulse Width”. His research was supervised by Dr Leanne Chan Lai-hang, Associate Professor in EE. Three papers were awarded this year and Stephen was one the recipients.
