Yawei Fang (Chinese and History) studied with the National University of Singapore through CityUHK's Student Exchange Programme.

"My great-grandfather went to Southeast Asia in the last century for work. Since childhood, I have had a peculiar curiosity and fondness for Southeast Asia, as I have heard my elders talk about my ancestors' experiences there."

"During the exchange programme, I had the opportunity to meet friends from various countries. Engaging in conversations with them and learning about their diverse cultures is fascinating."

"In Singapore, I developed a deeper understanding and appreciation for the diverse cultures coexisting within the country and also honed important skills. Living in an unfamiliar country, where I had to solve everything independently, undoubtedly honed my autonomy and adaptability. Meeting new people from different backgrounds and being exposed to unfamiliar environments required me to be able to adapt and accept new experiences. These skills are valuable and beneficial to my future career, enabling me to thrive in a rapidly changing global environment."
