Indonesian Festival 2024

Indonesian Festival 2024 organised by our Indonesian student community was a blast! Under the theme, Pasar Malam (meaning night market), students set up booths to showcase unique food culture, prepared games, and collected Indonesian-themed props for participants to capture memorable moments with friends.

Through workshops, event participants engaged with traditional craftsmanship through Bali bracelet making, learnt about the symbolism and cultural significance behind lanterns on festive occasions, and discovered floral artistry in a unique cultural context.

After countless days of preparation and practice, Indonesian students also brought amazing performances to the stage to wrap up the 2-day festival. From playing Angklung, a traditional musical instrument made of bamboo, to dressing up in traditional clothing from Jakarta, Kalimantan, Sumatra, and Central Java, to performing their own evolved version of traditional and modern dances and songs, the Indonesian student community took all participants on an unforgettable adventure to experience Indonesian heritage and culture.

”Indonesian Festival 2024: Pasar Malam“ is one of the Student-initiated Projects supported by the University to promote campus internationalisation and integration.
