Students from the City University of Hong Kong created a virtual reality (VR) project to allow players to have an immersive experience learning about ocean conservation.
The game’s story is about how the Omura's whale navigates polluted waters, what pollution is found in the ocean, and the anatomy of the whale. The game has 3 modes - Human mode, Whale mode, and a Skeleton Jigsaw.
1. Human Mode: Players experience retrieving ocean debris and reflect on problems of rubbish and pollution caused by human activities.
2. Whale Mode: Players swim as a whale and try to navigate around ocean rubbish.
3. Skeleton Jigsaw: Players put jigsaw pieces together to form a complete skeleton of Omura's whale and learn the characteristics of its various body parts.
