Omura’s whale, a mysterious and rare creature, is the “soul” of the “Walking with Omura’s Whale (WOW) Programme”. Starting from a 3D model of the whale, we developed a series of student projects and outreach events.
From April to May 2019, the WOW Programme co-organized with the Aquatic Animal Virtopsy Lab,at City University of Hong Kong a special exhibition using cetaceans as the theme, at the Hong Kong Science Museum. The exhibition was called “CSI of the Cetacean: Hope of Solutions”. During the five-week exhibition, over 110,000 people visited the exhibition. We gave interviews and received news coverage from over 10 newspapers and radio broadcasting channels. This time-lapse video shows the set-up process for the exhibition, and the display of the 3D-printed Omura’s whale skeleton featured at the exhibition.
