Visit of American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
Dr. Tod A. Laursen, the Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, recently embarked on a visit to the City University of Hong Kong. Accompanied by his team, Dr. Laursen was warmly greeted by Prof. Wen-Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) of CityUHK. Visit of NEOM University, Saudi Arabia
Prof. Charles Zukoski, the Senior Vice Provost of NEOM University, Saudi Arabia paid a visit to City University of Hong Kong, where he was warmly received by Prof. Wen Jung LI, Vice President (Talent & International Strategy), along with other representatives. The primary objective of this visit was to foster a partnership between the two institutions in areas such as faculty exchange programs, collaborative research endeavors, and the provision of opportunities for postdoctoral and graduate students.
Visit to Imperial College London, UK
Prof. Steven Wang, the Associate Vice-President (Resources Planning) of City University of Hong Kong, embarked on a visit to meet Prof. Nigel Brandon, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and his teams. The purpose of the visit to Imperial College is to discuss potential collaborations with the Faculty of Engineering. The focus is on developing student and faculty exchange programs, including initiatives such as the Double Bachelor's degree and Master's student exchange, as well as the visiting students program.
CityUHK and the University of Cambridge Embark on a Journey of Innovation through New Academic Collaborations
City University of Hong Kong is expanding its global collaborations to elevate research and educational excellence. In an exciting development, CityUHK and the University of Cambridge have solidified their commitment to mutual cooperation by signing two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in academic and research collaboration. President Freddy Boey of CityUHK, led a high-level delegation to the University of Cambridge and attended the MoUs signing. These MoUs aim to foster collaborative research and development between CityUHK's College of Engineering and College of Science and Cambridge's Department of Engineering and Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, respectively. This partnership brings together CityUHK's pioneering initiatives in Asia and Cambridge's distinguished history and research capabilities, with the aim of enhancing students' experiences and generating positive societal impacts. Furthermore, CityUHK's collaboration with 21 other leading UK universities in the prestigious Russell Group further strengthens its global network of academic excellence.
City University of Hong Kong Forms Partnership with University of Johannesburg, South Africa
A delegation led by Prof. Sarah Gravett, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Internationalization) of the University of Johannesburg visited City University of Hong Kong. They received a warm welcome from Freddy Boey, the President of CityUHK, and the senior management team. During the visit, a MoU was signed by Prof. Wen-Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) of CityUHK, and Professor Gravett, marking the beginning of a comprehensive collaboration in academic exchange between the two universities. Both institutions are excited about the prospects this collaboration holds for faculty and students.
Strengthening Strategic Partnership: City University of Hong Kong and Satbayev University Met and Sign MoUs for Educational and Research Excellence
City University of Hong Kong and Satbayev University (SU) further strengthened their strategic partnership on 16th April, as representatives from both institutions came together for a meeting at CityUHK. The meeting involved three departments - Architecture and Civil Engineering (ACE), Computer Science (CS), and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) - to discuss opportunities for student programmes and research collaboration. The fruitful discussions paved the way the next day for the signing of MoUs on 17th April. The MoUs were signed by President Professor Freddy Boey of CityUHK and Rector Meiram Begentayev of SU, and were witnessed by esteemed guests, including Mr. Lester Garson Huang, Council Chairman of CityUHK and Mr. Almas Seitakynov, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong and Macao.
These MoUs signify a continued commitment to educational and research excellence, and encompass a range of initiatives such as undergraduate student exchange programs, joint supervision of PhD students, faculty exchange, and staff training programs. The funding for these initiatives will be provided through the Bolashak program. The signing ceremony, attended by notable representatives from both universities, serves as a testament to the dedication and enthusiasm for collaboration and mutual growth between Satbayev University and City University of Hong Kong.

Consul General of Japan in Hong Kong visits CityU
