The National Palace Museum (NPM) in Taipei inherited a treasure trove of artifacts from the palaces of the Qing Dynasty including objects from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Established in 1925 and re-opened in Taipei in 1965, NPM will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its re-opening next year.
At the suggestion of the International Council of Museums, the theme for International Museum Day for 2013 was “Museums (Memory + Creativity) = Social Change”. Echoing this theme, the lecture titled “Challenges and Changes” will present new management and operation measures adopted by NPM in response to the ever-changing economic, social and political environment.
