Book Launch for Starting a New Chapter: Reform and Opening-up of Hong Kong and Round-table Discussion for “Implications for Start-ups and Start-up Investors”
City University of Hong Kong Press recently published a book called “Starting a New Chapter: Reform and Opening-up of Hong Kong”, written by Prof Witman Hung, the Hong Kong Deputy to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC). On 14 December 2022, we hosted a book launch cum round-table discussion with a focus on “Implications for Start-ups and Start-up Investors” at CityU HK Tech 300, United Centre, Admiralty.
The event started with speeches from officiating guests Mr Sunny LEE (Vice-President (Administration), City University of Hong Kong), Prof Yi-Hui Christine HUANG (Director, City University of Hong Kong Press and Chair Professor of Communication and Media, City University of Hong Kong), and the author of the book Prof Witman HUNG. We are very honoured that the event was supported by many other important guests, such as Mr Lester Garson Huang (Chairman, University Council, City University of Hong Kong), Dr Herman Hu Shao-ming, Ms Maria Tam Wai-chu, and more. We greatly appreciate their support and the participation of all the attendees present at the event.
During the launch, the author introduced the contents of his new book, explained his inspiration, and expressed his gratitude to people who supported him.
An associated round-table discussion for the topic “Implications for Start-ups and Start-up Investors” was held successfully on the same day. Mr Eddie NG Hak-kim (Chief Honorary Dean, GBA Institute), Prof K.C. CHAN (Adjunct Professor of Finance, Business School, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology), Prof Emil CHAN (Adjunct Professor, EMBA Programme, College of Business, City University of Hong Kong), and Prof Witman HUNG participated in the round-table discussion. They shared their views on how to attract talent, the development of the innovation and technology industry, the challenges of startup companies in Hong Kong, and much more.
The event ended with a question-and-answer session and the capturing of group photos.
