On 30 March 2023, City University of Hong Kong Press, Run Run Shaw Library, City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and the Society of Registered Safety Officers (SRSO) jointly held the book launch and seminar Construction Safety Law, Management, and Technology: Hong Kong Experience at Run Run Shaw Library, City University of Hong Kong.

In addition to the author of the book, Mr. LEE Hung-kwong, we were honored to have Mr. AU Ho-fo (President of SRSO) as a speaker for the seminar. The event started with speeches from our officiating guests Dr. SO Yu-shing (Chairman of WLS Holdings Limited), Prof. Yi-Hui Christine HUANG (Director of CityU Press), and the author of the book Mr. LEE.

 

  

This book focuses on health and safety at building and civil engineering construction sites. It begins by outlining the history of safety developments in the construction industry in Hong Kong and then goes on to discuss important topics under safety law, management, and technology. Many chapters also include extracts from real legal cases and detailed analyses of actual violations of construction industry safety regulations in Hong Kong and worldwide. Written in an easy-to-digest, textbook style, this book is a great reference for safety practitioners and company officials in the construction industry as well as for students taking occupational health and safety courses.

During the event, both Mr. LEE and Mr. AU shared their valuable experiences in promoting occupational safety in construction projects and also discussed recent issues in construction safety and its importance.
