This course aims to develop students’ communication skills and to build up their knowledge of the vocabulary and grammatical structures of the Japanese language.  Students will acquire a foundation level of Japanese grammar, and be able to use Japanese in simple oral communication.  They will also develop their competence in reading and writing simple passages in Japanese.  By the end of the course, students should have reached a proficiency level roughly equivalent to the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Level N5 (Part 2).
