Self-Access Canvas Workshop for Educators (2024/25)
This self-access online workshop offers a flexible alternative to the face-to-face workshops. This self-access workshop is divided into four modules for review at your own pace. The quiz at the end of each module helps to gauge the extent of your learning.
Participants will be able to perform the following tasks after completing each module.
Module 1: Conducting basic learning and teaching activities on Canvas
- Navigating within Canvas
- Disseminating course contents by uploading files
- Communicating with students using various channels within Canvas
- Adding Teaching Assistants and other users to your course
- Listing some tools inside Canvas
- Creating an assignment shell to collect student submissions
Module 2: Customizing personal settings on Canvas
- Adjusting your notification preferences
- Adding personal profile
- Updating personal settings on Canvas
Module 3: Preventing plagiarism with Turnitin
- Stating the workflow and logic of Turnitin
- Creating Canvas Assignments with Turnitin plagiarism scan
- Analyzing Turnitin similarity report and AI writing detection
Module 4: Conducting advanced learning activities and assessments on Canvas
- Reusing course contents on Canvas
- Grading in your Canvas courses
- Designing learning paths using Modules
- Running assessment tasks using Canvas Quizzes
- Adopting Media Recorder or Panopto to enable video/audio contents in your courses
- Utilising Zoom for virtual teaching and learning (VTL)
