Self-Access Canvas Workshop for Educators (2023/24)

This self-access online workshop is an alternative to face-to-face training with flexibility. The course is divided into four modules, and you can work at your own pace. The quiz at the end of each module helps to gauge your learning.
Participants will be able to perform the following tasks after completing each module.

Module 1: Conducting basic teaching and learning activities on Canvas
  • Navigate within Canvas
  • Disseminate course contents by uploading files
  • Communicate with students using various channels within Canvas
  • Add TAs and other users to your course
  • List some tools inside Canvas
  • Create an assignment shell to collect student submissions

Module 2: Customizing personal settings in Canvas
  • Adjust your notification preferences
  • Add personal profile
  • Update personal settings in Canvas

Module 3: Preventing plagiarism with Turnitin
  • State the workflow and logic of Turnitin
  • Create Canvas Assignments with Turnitin plagiarism scan
  • Analyze Turnitin similarity report and AI writing detection

Module 4: Conduct advance learning activities and assessments on Canvas
  • Reuse course contents on Canvas
  • Perform grading in your Canvas courses
  • Design learning paths using Modules
  • Run assessment tasks using Canvas Quizzes
  • Adopt Media Recorder or Panopto to enable video/audio contents in your courses
  • Utilize Zoom for virtual teaching and learning (VTL)
