Digital Learning Workshop Series for Teachers
Kick-start Teaching with Canvas & Turnitin
This workshop provides a hands-on opportunity to experience the use of different tools within the Canvas learning management system (LMS) to facilitate the delivery of courses. After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the CityUHK digital learning ecosystem;
- Conduct learning & teaching activities in Canvas courses;
- Collect student assignments with Turnitin plagiarism check;
- Run live classes remotely on Zoom;
- Create lecture recordings using Panopto.
Target participants: All CityUHK staff

Using Canvas for Digital Assessment & Grading
This workshop covers how to use Canvas for assessment. Besides the technical procedures, the implication of computerizing exams will be discussed. After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the pros and cons of digital assessments;
- Prevent plagiarism with Turnitin LTI (Canvas Assignments with external tool);
- Create Canvas Quizzes for assessment;
- Operate Gradebook for marking and grade calculations;
- Embed in-video quizzes on Panopto.

Self-Access Canvas Workshop for Educators (2024/25)
This self-access online workshop offers a flexible alternative to the face-to-face workshops. This self-access workshop is divided into four modules for review at your own pace. The quiz at the end of each module helps to gauge the extent of your learning.
Participants will be able to perform the following tasks after completing each module.
Module 1: Conducting basic learning and teaching activities on Canvas
Module 2: Customizing personal settings on Canvas
Module 3: Preventing plagiarism with Turnitin
Module 4: Conducting advanced learning activities and assessments on Canvas
Target participants: All CityUHK staff
Study hours: 3 hours
