Ting-Hsuan Chen received his B.S. degree (2003) and M.S. degree (2005) in National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, and obtained his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at University of California, Los Angeles (2012). He is currently an Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. Dr. Chen has been spearheading projects leveraging the micro/nanotechnology for biomedical applications. He has made a fundamental discovery of cell’s intrinsic left-right bias and successfully exploited this finding to engineer patterns of microtissue. His recent research focusing on nanotechnologies for measurement of cell rotational mechanics and developing DNA nanosensors that detect biomarkers in live cells or visual assays for point-of-care applications. Many of his achievement was featured as cover stories in prestigious journals such as Circulation Research, Journal of Physiology, Biotechnnology and Bioengineering, and ACS Sensors, or published in top-tier journals such as ACS Nano, Biomaterials, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, and Analytical Chemistry. He was also a recipient of Best Conference Poster Award at IEEE NEMS conference in 2014, Best Conference Paper Award at conference of Optofluidics in 2016. Dr. Chen’ also served as a guest editor for IEEE Transaction of Nanotechnology and Micromachines, and is currently editorial board member of Heliyon, Elsevier.
