Mr. HUANG Yixiang, Jay

Hi there! My name is Jay, recipient of the Best Student Award from Hall 9. As a Taiwanese student studying abroad without any former acquaintance, Hall 9 has provided me with warmth and care more than I could ever imagine. It has always been my honor being a part of this family. As a result, in return, I participated in numerous activities held by Hall 9. In Semester A, I took part in Mid-Autumn festival, international student gathering, several Student Initiated Activities and PEK tennis team. Through these events, I became more involved with my hallmates as well as truly experienced the merits and spirits Hall 9 had been trying to preserve and promote to our residents. In addition, I also served as a fire marshal. I believe looking after the safety of others would be something at least I could do.

In Semester B, I became the floor representative, which allowed me to be more devoted to Hall 9, as I was given the responsibility and power to maintain the order of my floor and reach out for help when necessary. Two SIAs held by me and other hallmates were successful. With the theme of “Taiwan Night Market” and “Malindo”, we managed to incorporate cultural diversities into cuisine workshop and sets of entertainment.

Apart from leisure and recreations, Hall 9 also provides residents with superior study environment. My academic performance had improved a lot during my time living here. The importance of discipline and mutual respect is emphasized, which makes Hall 9 a pleasant and quite place to rest, chill and study.

Again, I am more than grateful with this award as a recognition of my contribution into this place. I sincerely look forward to the next phase of this pleasant journey.
