Jockey Club Academy Hall Academian Scholarships
Mr. LOBO, Lloyd John
“Academians, we are Cornwall Lions; Strong and Brilliant; Aiming to be Champions.”
The JCAC chant pretty much sums up my hall life so far. At hall four, our culture is to strive to have a balanced student life. I was always someone who believed in this philosophy and that’s why Hall 4 seemed like the perfect fit for me. Getting a return offer to hall was an additional incentive to keep my grades up. I’m a sports enthusiast and being a part of the Academian family helped me embrace this quality. I had the pleasure of representing the hall in some sports that I was familiar with like football, athletics and tennis. In addition to that, I was also able to learn a lot about basketball, a sport I had very little interest in, by being one of the managers.
I was encouraged to participate in almost every event I could and that helped me meet several new people of different cultural backgrounds. This in turn meant that every time I would get home from university, I would have a friendly face greeting me. Whether it was the hall master, the residence tutors or even the security guard, walking into hall four made you feel like a part of the Academian family. The most exciting events in my opinion were the integration and cultural trips that were organised. It gave us the opportunity to bond with each other and I strongly feel that some of those bonds will last a lifetime.
