Hall 11 Scholarships
Mr. RAJAN Yaqzaan
First, I would like to thank the whole RT Team of Hall 11, our Residence master Dr Chris and the SRO management to have considered me worthy of this scholarship. When I came to Hall 11, I was, just like every other freshman international student, very nervous about living away from my family and settle into a new place all alone. But despite all the nerves, I was more curious to know more about Hong Kong, City University, the residence life and the diverse people I was to meet. I believe I should specially mention my Residence Tutor, Lex, who was always there to answer any question I had and offer solutions to my problems.
One thing that I observed was that most Year 1 students are not motivated to participate in hall events and activities mainly because they have a guaranteed place in the residence in the next year, but I thought differently. I have always been an active contributor to the society I live in and living away from home, I knew that it is best for everyone to live like a big family together and have strong bonds amongst each other. This motivated me to participate in all activities in the hall that interested me.

Throughout the year I participate in multiple activities which included PEK competitions such as Athletics and Table Tennis. I also captained the hall team in the Table Tennis Competition. Moreover, I also participated in SRO and Hall events such as pizza party, Mid-Autumn Festival, museum visits and many more. I was also the floor representative of my floor in the Semester B of the year which gave me a very good exposure regarding how to manage different things in the hall. I aspire to continue everything I did for the hall and contribute even more than the year before.
Thankyou.
