Jockey Club Humanity Hall (Hall 1)
Alumni Association’s Whole Person Development Scholarship (WPDS)
Mr. LEE Kotis Cheuk Hin
“University life is not complete without staying in a hall.”
I have heard of people saying that, especially when I first enter the City University as a freshman. My expectation for a hall life would be great friendship, entertainment and a good reason not to sleep so early at night. In the past two and a half years, I have fulfilled all my expectations and the best way to enrich a hall life would be to participate in different positions. I have been serving the Jockey Club Humanity Hall in different post including the executive committee of the Residents' Association, a Council Popularly Elected Member and currently a Residence Tutor.
For the first year, as an executive committee of the Residents’ Association, I held different events for the residents such as the Big Bowl Feast, Intra-hall singing contest, Intra-hall esports, cooking competition and the Orientation camp. All of the events have been a great success, both committees and participants enjoyed their time spending in those activities. Also, I have held the Joint Hall Dinner with committees from other halls which allows me to work with people outside my hall. This is a great start of my hall life as I could work with people living in different halls and floors, this has provided me an opportunity to leave my own comfort zone and develop new relationships with people from different back grounds.
For the second year, I have been working as the councillor of the Jockey Club Humanity Hall. My major responsibility is to supervise the Temporary Acting Interim Provisional. I have participated in most of the meetings during the whole year and develop provide directions and suggestions to last year's Temporary Acting Interim Provisional. From time to time, we have created a bonding between each other even our positions are different. This is the first time for me to handle a large amount of administrative work, and I am more prepared to face the challenges in the coming years.
Other than that, my performance in the contribution to Hall Life have been a great experience for me as I have utilized all the opportunities given by the hall to create my own hall life. It has been a fruitful 2.5 years for me. Looking back to my contributions to the hall, it is no doubt that I am not good at sports or music. However, I have created my own life with in a different way in respective positions. It was a great honour for me to have this scholarship and I am sure that I would continue to contribute to the hall in the future.
