Check-In Procedures

Welcome to the Student Residence (SR), the City University of Hong Kong for 2023/24. Please read and pay attention to the following points at each section and take action as deemed appropriate:


Undergraduate Students
Residential Year 2023/24 (Semester B)

Mass Check-in Details

Period: 8 – 9 January 2024
Time: 09:00 - 19:00*
Entrance: Main Gate at Tat Hong Avenue or Hi-bye bridge at Cornwall Street
Location: Moon Chun Multi-function Hall (MFH-A)

* Check-in beyond the above-defined period/time could be entertained at the Security Control Office (Tat Hong Avenue) and your forbearance required.

** Car Access for drop-off luggage:
If you take taxi / private car to Student Residence (SR), please advise the driver to
  • reach CityU Student Residence at Tak Hong Avenue, Kowloon Tong,
  • leave the SR after dropping off the luggage off outside MFH-A or a place as instructed by the security guard. NO car parking allowed in the SR.

Part A Important Information

You are warmly reminded to watch Video “All you need to Know about moving in”.

Part B Pre Check-in & Check-in Procedure

The official check-in date starts from 09:00 on 8 January 2024. Students are required to complete the check-in in person by 15 January 2024. For those who fail to complete the check-in procedure, their bed-places may be forfeited by SRO. Early check-in request will not be entertained.

Step 1 Login the [Pre Check-in System] NOW

All prospective residents MUST complete the Pre Check-in procedure to obtain the “Check-in PassCode” for completing check-in at Student Residence for 2023/24 residential year.

Login the [Pre Check-in System] to complete the Pre Check-in procedure before check-in (The link was sent via email).

In the system, you are required to
  1. Acknowledge the Personal Information Collection Statement
  2. Acknowledge the Anti-Scam Messages
  3. Complete the CASH (Committee Against Sexual Harassment) click the link here to start this online tutorial.
  4. Fill in the Student Health Statement
  5. Acknowledge the SR Undertaking

Step 2 Obtain the “Check-in PassCode” on your check-in date

On the day of your check-in Student Residence (e.g. 8 January 2024), login the same system to obtain the “Check-in PassCode”.

ALERT:
Check-in without “Check-in Pass Code”
will NOT be processed


Step 3 Arrive at SR

Gaining Access into the SR
Present your “Check-in PassCode” for gaining access either via SR Main Gate at Tat Hong Avenue or Hi-bye bridge at Cornwall Street

Step 4 Go to Moon Chun Multi-function Hall (MFH-A) or 24-hour Security Office

Check-in in person
  1. present your “Check-in PassCode” and CityU Student ID card or Passport
  2. collect your Resident Card (marked with bed and used for door opening)
Note:
  • use your CityU Student ID card for gaining access into SR and hall
  • for those WIHTOUT Student ID card (SID), keep/use your “Check-in PassCode” for gaining access into SR/hall (but not the campus) for 7-day till your collection of the SID

Step 5 Go to your room

Hall, your home sweet home
  1. at hall access, beep your Student ID card or scan your “Check-in PassCode” to get through the infra-red poles
  2. beep your Resident Card to open the room assigned
  3. occupy the correct side of the room as indicated on your Resident Card (matching the bed/table marked)
  4. conduct a quick room inventory checking and report defects or irregularities (e.g. pest, hygiene) if any to the guard at hall lobby right away (belated report beyond 1 week may make you liable for the defect rectification cost)
  5. if you wish to do an extra cleaning to the room on your own, you can borrow on-loan cleaning utensils free of charge from the guard at lobby
  6. if you need bedding/linen to get over the night, you can buy a set from hall lobby (at non-profit price)
  7. visit the web Useful Guides for the guideline on using air-conditioner, washing machine, and network connection
  8. occupy the assigned bed / provision as shown on your resident card throughout the residential period. Keep the unoccupied bed /provision intact and get prepared for your roommate’s check-in at any time throughout the residential period without prior notice. Illegal occupancy will lead to disciplinary action including penalty charges.

Check-in Reminders

  1. Action/Documents required:
    - "Check-in PassCode" obtained from Pre Check-in system
    - CityU Student ID card / Passport
  1. Luggage preparation:
    You can bring/ purchase
    - daily necessities (e.g. towel, shampoo, toilet paper etc.) at Cafeteria (Homey Kitchen) in the SR or Taste at Festival Walk (within 10-minute walking distance)
    - Single-bed bedding/linen at IKEA in town (or buy a set from hall lobby to get over the night)
  1. Get an Octopus Card in advance
    - purchase an e-valued Octopus Card at the airport or MTR Customer Service Centers upon arrival Hong Kong, for activating the air-conditioning in your room or laundry machines in the hall.
  1. 9-day Weather Forecast for Hong Kong
    - check and prepare raincoat/umbrella for any adverse weather

Part C Late Check-in Application

For those with desperate reasons and proof for your need of a late check-in, special arrangement could only be made for one’s having registered with SRO at here on or before 15 January 2024, bearing in mind that there shall be no adjustment on the hall lodging fee for late check-in granted if any.
