SRO Signature Events

1. Inter-Hall Contest Fun Day - Table Tennis

One of our most anticipated sports events - table tennis was very intense this year. All teams showed exceptional sportsmanship with team spirit, and every athlete was very committed and did their best to fight for their hall’s honor. With tensions and cheers rising, teammates from each hall pushed through and accomplished camaraderie and teamwork. Finally, it resulted in Hall 11 taking 2nd runner up, Hall 1 taking 1st runner up, and Hall 5 taking the championship!

2. CityU Spring Festival

With the winter break gone, SRO has a lined-up schedule full of events students and staff can enjoy and make memories. Starting off the Semester B with a bang, the CityU Spring Festival 2024 has outdone themselves this year with fully immersive celebration of the year of the dragon! Performance of Chinese orchestra, lion dance, and melodious singing was enjoyed by more than a thousand students throughout the night. Booths showcasing national delicacies and games were placed in the Roundabout and were managed by residents. Ending with endless laughter and picture-taking, the CityU Spring Festival 2024 has united local and non-local students in celebrating a joyous event!

3. Inter-Hall Contest Fun Day - Singing Contest

For the final and arguably the most anticipated event of the semester in SRO, the singing contest was held with an amazing lineup of singing performances, exciting guest performances, and inspiring judges! With group and solo categories, emerging talents from each hall were thoroughly chosen and given a vote of confidence as they sang, belted and performed their hearts out. Captivating both audience and judges, Hall 7 won 1st place in the group category, followed by Hall 2 and their energetic performance, and 3rd place going to Hall 5, showcasing their diversity. Performing solo is more nerve-wracking. Nevertheless, the champion from Hall 1, well-known in CityU for her Disney-like voice, left us in awe. The 1st runner-up from Hall 7 gave us a memorable performance, while the "leading lady from the CityU musical" took the 3rd place for Hall 11 in the solo category. The singing contest ended with screaming and chanting as Cozy Syndrome.

4. Blood Donation

Two-day blood donation event that was fully booked, and all Residence Masters, staff, and residents showed great support and enthusiasm for donating blood. A big thank you to those who showed selflessness and kindness! Giving back to society and helping those in need truly makes us human. Not all heroes wear capes!

5. Exam Energizer

With the end of the semester nearing, the air is tense as finals are around the corner. “Exam Energizer” is back! Students making their way to and from class had the chance to recharge with coffee and refreshing energy drinks, as well as delicious cookies! As much as they conquered the game stations, we hope they have conquered their exams and had a fruitful academic year!
