Hall Visit

  1. Visiting hours: 08:00 - 23:00
    Prior written approval must be obtained from the Student Residence Office if you intend to arrange a visit from an external organization or the media.

  2. Hall Visit - applicable to holders of CityU Student Identity Card (SID) from 4 Sep 2023
    The host resident can entertain 2 visitors at any time during the visiting hours
    1. Visitor registration 
      1. Present SID with mask-off (if any) of the host resident and visitor(s) to the hall lobby guard*
        * The security guard is authorized to check the SID for orderly operation of the hall
      2. The guard shall grant one-time access right to the visitor(s) during the visiting hours
      3. The host and visitor can beep SID at the lobby access system for getting into the hall.

    2. Visitor de-registration
      1. the visitor shall beep out the SID to get out of the hall and then be reminded
      2. show one’s SID to the lobby guard to deregister/clear one’s SID from host’s visitor record
      3. the one-time access right to the visitor’s SID is removed**
        **for regaining access into the hall, a new round of registration by host resident is required

  3. Regulations governing hall visit (3.3 of Regulation Governing Student Residence)
    1. Host resident is held liable for the behavior of the visitor(s) on hall premises;​
    2. Host resident is required to obtain prior consent of the room-mate if any before letting the visitor(s) into the shared room;​
    3. Visitor(s) of opposite gender shall use the communal toilet on the corridor or in the hall, but NOT the shared toilet in the suite; ​
    4. Any misconduct such as attempt of illegal access without visitor registration, leaving the hall without visitor deregistration, using 3rd party SID card for registration, remaining in the hall beyond visiting hours (e.g. overnight) shall lead to hall disciplinary actions(e.g. hall suspension up to 14 days).​
    5. Any hall resident being terminated hall residency as a disciplinary penalty, he/she shall be denied access and visitor registration into all halls under SRO during the termination period.

Useful Information

Smoking, Drinking & Noise

Smoke-free environment:

  1. The University is a smoke-free campus. Smoking on campus is an offence in law and could attract a fine of HK$5,000. Smoking is strictly forbidden in any part of the Student Residence.
  2. Many residents have great concern about smoking in public areas. Be considerate of other residents' feelings and support our non-smoking residence by not smoking.

Alcohol:

  1. Each resident is held responsible for ensuring that he/she monitors the intake of alcohol at any given time and avoids over-consumption.
  2. The University will not tolerate excessive alcohol consumption as an excuse for disruptive behavior or breach of hall rules. Continual excessive consumption of alcohol which causes disturbance to residents will be considered misconduct.
  3. You may approach your Residence Master or the Student Residence Office if you need assistance for your drinking problems.

Noise Level:

  1. We aim to encourage the creation of a vibrant yet peaceful residence community through the development of respect and consideration towards others.
  2. The period from 11:00pm to 7:00am is regarded as the quiet hours of the Student Residence. You are expected to behave in a mature and responsible manner by not creating noise nuisance which will disturb others.
  3. During revision and examination periods, the quiet hours may be extended as needed.
  4. While you are enjoying your leisure chats and laughter with others in public areas, such as the lawn area, common rooms and corridors, be aware of the noise disturbance which may be caused to your peers and refrain from creating such disturbance.
