The brand-new Hall 17 is situated adjacent to the beautiful ocean and beach. Hall life is not only an extension of classroom study but also a place for whole-person development. Hall Rules of Hall 17
To safeguard all residents’ safety and develop mutual respect and a sense of responsibility through interaction with each other, we invite your cooperation in observing the "Regulations Governing Student Residence" and the "Code of Student Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure" of City University of Hong Kong:

We would also like to draw special attention to the following hall rules and regulations, subject to changes and review by the Hall Management Team (HMT, is comprised of the Residence Master (RM) and Residence Tutors (RTs) as and when necessary and appropriate. The HMT has the authority to interpret the hall regulations and rules.
- Residents should be considerate towards other residents and must refrain from conduct that may cause disturbance or inconvenience to other residents. The period between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am is regarded as quiet hours for the Student Residence. During revision and examination weeks, quiet hours may be extended as needed.
- Residents should strive for harmony among diversities irrespective of background, religion, gender, nationality, or political preference among hall-mates under the same roof.
- Any form of sexual harassment within the Hall area is strictly prohibited.
- Residents are responsible for safekeeping their personal valuable items at all times in the Student Residence compound. The University or hall management shall not be responsible for any loss of or damage to any articles or things brought into the Hall by the residents.
- Theft is a criminal offense. Stealing any property or personal belongings of other residents might lead to serious disciplinary action.
- Residents are not allowed to change rooms unless this is specifically requested and approved.
- Only simple cooking is allowed in the pantry on each floor. For safety reasons, any type of ignition giving rise to a naked flame is prohibited within the Hall area.
- Pets of any form are prohibited in the Hall for hygiene and community health.
- Residents may invite up to 2 individual visitors to the Hall. The visiting hours are from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm, but visitors are not allowed to stay in the Student Residence /the Hall overnight. Residents have to accompany visitors at all times and be responsible for their behaviour in the Hall.
- Lending or borrowing Student Identity cards and/or Resident Cards for identification is prohibited.
- Using or entering communal bathrooms designated for residents of the opposite gender is not allowed.
- The University is a smoke-free campus. Smoking on campus is an offense by law and smoking of whatever form is strictly forbidden in any part of the Student Residence and the Hall.
- Gambling and betting in any form is not allowed in the Hall.
- Residents should keep all parts of the Hall, including their own rooms, clean and tidy.
- University staff, the Residence Master, and Residence Tutors reserve the right to conduct room check at any time with or without prior notice if there is a reason to believe that the safety or security of any resident is being compromised or there is a suspected breach of rules and regulations
Violation of any of the above regulations and rules may lead to disciplinary action by the HMT, including but not limited to:
- Verbal warning
- Written Letter
- Deduction of Hall Returning Points
- Prohibition of Bringing Visitors into the Hall
- Hall Suspension
- Reporting to the University Student Discipline Committee and relevant law enforcement agencies
The HMT may take any measure as deemed necessary in the circumstances in order to enforce the rules.
