Yang Ming Chiao Tung University School of law (NYCU Law) was established in 2000 first known as the Institute of Technology Law, and then became the School of Law in 2015. Though relatively young, NYCU Law is one of the most sought-after resources by both public and private sectors in Taiwan. Over fifty percent of the founding judges in Taiwan’s Intellectual Property Court are our alumni, and around ninety percent of intellectual property legal professionals working at the nearby Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan’s Silicon Valley, are trained with us. The excellence and reputation of NYCU Law have achieved in the past decade is unsurpassed by any other institutes across the nation. In 2020, NYCU Law was ranked 100-150 in the world in the subject of law and the second best law school in Taiwan by the QS World University Rankings.
Besides the reputation in the area of intellectual property law, NYCU Law has extended its interdisciplinary focus to a wide range of edge-cutting issues. At present, the research and teaching areas of NYCU Law covers from intellectual property rights and knowledge venture to business law and white-collar crime, to gender equality, labor rights and social justice, to biotech and health law, to transnational law and international negotiation, and to information and communication law.
