Kobe University

Kobe University is one of the highest ranking Japanese national universities, located in Kobe in the Kansai region. It is also one of the oldest and largest national universities in Japan, dating back to 1902, when the Higher Commercial School was established, later renamed Kobe University of Commerce in 1929, and then Kobe University, in 1949. It currently comprises 11 faculties and 14 graduate schools, hosting 16,000 students. The School of Law was created in 1949, as one of the six original faculties of the university, and has since then consistently been at the forefront of research and education in the fields of Law and Political Science. Today, it comprises 70 full-time faculty members teaching 900 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students, enabling a close relationship between students and professors, particularly in the graduate school, and hosts one of the very top law schools in Japan, both in terms of legal research and success rate at the national bar examination. It is also known to be widely open internationally, offering a wide array of classes in English, regularly inviting researchers and professors from around the world, having concluded partnership agreements with leading universities across continents.
