The legal education and research of Jilin University (Northeast People’s University, one of the former names of the University) commenced in 1948. After 70-year endeavour and development, Jilin University School of Law has become a leading base of Chinese legal education and professional training. It is one of the most prestigious law schools in China, currently led by Professor Zhipeng He as Dean of the School.
Jilin University School of Law is host to a vibrant community of ninety-nine dedicated academic staff spanning across a broad range of specialisms, comprising both leading experts in their chosen disciplines and promising early-stage researchers. It is also home to many important legal innovations, most importantly the initiation and development of the rights-based school of thought. To date, it has successfully embraced a coherent and interactive structure of legal education involving a rich selection of Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes.
Jilin University School of Law hosts several leading legal research centres with an equally strong commitment to excellence in research. The Contemporary Law Review and the Law and Society Development, published by Jilin University School of Law and the Centre for Jurisprudence Research, are both listed as CSSCI journals. Jilin University School of Law has established strong academic cooperation links with various universities and academic institutions overseas, including universities in the US, the UK, Germany, Canada, Japan, and South Korea.
