East China University of Political Science and Law

Founded on the site of the former St. John’s University in 1952, the East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) is among the first higher educational institutions established by the PRC specializing in legal and political science education.

Located in Shanghai, a metropolis known as a financial center and transportation hub, ECUPL boasts two campuses – Changning campus (in the city center) and Songjiang campus (in the suburb).

Known as “the Oriental Pearl in Legal Education”, ECUPL offers a diversity of well-structured disciplines, with law as its pillar, which is developing steadily and enjoys a remarkable edge over other academic institutions. The discipline of law of ECUPL has continuously ranked among the top 10 in Chinese mainland, competing with over 700 law disciplines across the country. ECUPL has proudly seen its alumni taking important positions in courts, procuratorates, law firms, government bodies, legal institutions, etc.

Actively promoting international cooperation, ECUPL has entered into partnerships with over 180 universities and organizations (including WIPO, UNITAR etc.) overseas for exchange, joint programs and more.
