Redefining Creativity and Authenticity
In recent years, the advent of artificial intelligence technology has profoundly stimulated creativity and development across various fields. In the realm of contemporary art creation, artificial intelligence has evolved the elements of imagery, video, and sound to unprecedented levels. The capabilities of AI generated images now rival those of professional photographers and can even transcend the original concepts envisioned by artists. Besides, by employing mass online datasets and sophisticated model training, AI generative technology is gradually maturing into a proficient "artist," capable of producing works that resonate deeply with audiences.
However, the emergence of artificial intelligence has begun to blur the relationship between the artist and the artwork itself, challenging the traditional understanding of artists from the general public. It prompted contemplation on the very composition of the work and the role of the artist in the creative process.
When an image is merely generated by a machine devoid of emotion and constructed from data and calculation, can it still be regarded as the work of an artist? In this context, are the creators behind the AI model training and programming, their intangible contributions still counted as artists or merely developers? At the same time, when the role of an image is revealing the reality and playing as evidence to tell the truth to audiences, do AI-generated images contravene the intrinsic meaning of imagery and the authentic experiences it seeks to convey?
This presentation aims to analyze and discuss art creation associated with AIgenerated technology by revealing the various AI-generative practices; Thus, it will also focus particularly on the issues that arise from those generative images, for instance, virtual identity and image authenticity. Through an exploration of diverse artworks and the research and model training from artwork creation, this presentation will examine the relationship between image authenticity and individual identity in the new media era.
