Fake? Or Supposed to be Fake?
The money that can be used by people passed away is money that doesn’t exist in the real world. This explained why Chinese people use fire to transfer (burn) mock money folded by grass paper. But it also confused me why people serve fresh food to their tombs. In this artwork, I create mockfood formed by printed photogrammetry images, offering a unique perspective to consider traditional memorial ceremonies with modern technology. If people believe burning fake money can worship someone, why do they serve fresh fruit? Similar to money, food that is fake for alive people can be imagining for dead people. In that case, the orange is supposed to be fake. What is fake? The orange? The mind of worship? The world after dead?
