Objectives
Data science has been a very active research area. It is different from the traditional statistics and deeply interacts with other fields: learning theory, image processing, applied and computational harmonic analysis, approximation theory, compressed sensing, and data mining. Many new research directions in data science have been developed, and new scientific problems have been raised from important practical problems. More and more mathematicians and scientists are joining this exciting research area. In spite of great success of data science in the last decade, there are still many important problems and directions to explore.
The First International Conference on Mathematics of Data Science was held at City University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University during March 13-17, 2017. The Second International Conference on Mathematics of Data Science was held at Old Dominion University, USA, during November 2-4, 2018.
The Third International Conference on Mathematics of Data Science will be held at CityU during June 19-23, 2019. The conference will bring mathematicians and scientists world-wide to address important issues on mathematics of data science.
