You have probably heard about global warming caused by carbon dioxide emissions. But how has Hong Kong’s climate changed, and how will it change in the future? We will look into how frequently heat waves occur, how intense heavy rains occur, and what typhoon activity is like, along with a scientific basic concept explanation.

The Speaker is an experienced law teacher specializing in “Land Law” and the PCLL subject of “Conveyancing Practice”. She is also an experienced solicitor, having been admitted to practise in various legal jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, England and Wales.

In the upcoming CityUHK Learning Classroom for Secondary School Students, the Speaker will, in a friendly, relaxed and entertaining fashion, explain to the participants what “Land Law” is about and how and why it can affect all of us in our everyday life.

As the Speaker also has extensive experience in counselling students and giving them academic and career advice, there will be a Q & A session at the end of the class where participants are most welcome to ask any questions about “Land Law”, law studies in general and/or career planning.

Veterinary medicine is not just for dogs and cats. All species have their own veterinarian. During this presentation, the roles and daily activities of a farm animal veterinarian (cows, sheep and goats) will be presented.

This course aims to discuss how accounting has been incorporated in real-life business practices, with a particular focus of stimulating students' thinking of how accounting choices affect information users' decisions. Business failure cases will also be discussed among participants to highlight the importance of professional and ethical standards of the accounting profession in safeguarding wealth of the society.

The one-hour class will provide students with a foretaste of what a university class may look like. The content could be a revision on what you have already learnt in your secondary school math classroom, so, the technical side is not the most important. However, the class is conducted in English alone (university requirement) and students need to bring their lab-top or tablet to take part in the in-class online quizzes. A mobile phone will also be sufficed. Instant feedback of the learning will be provided in class. Students need to registered to the Canvas system beforehand so they can gain access to University Canvas teaching platform. We shall have some fun.

Biomedical sciences are increasingly important in our daily lives, contributing to health care, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. It also impacts of our lifestyle and well-being, making it an integral part of modern society. In this classroom, we will provide examples of biomedical applications to illustrate the underlying scientific principles and provide interactive activities for scientific learning.

In this lecture, we will explore the fascinating world of microorganisms and understand why they are so important for human beings. Microorganisms, though invisible to the naked eye, have a profound impact on our health, environment, and technology. We will delve into the human microbiota and learn how beneficial bacteria keep us healthy. We'll also discuss how humans have harnessed the power of bacteria to produce life-saving medicines like antibiotics and insulin. Additionally, we'll explore the exciting potential of bacteriophages in combating harmful bacteria. By the end of this lecture, I hope the students can have a greater appreciation for these tiny but mighty organisms and their significant role in our lives.

Sunscreen, also known as sunblock, is essential for the protection against sunburn. In this 1-hour talk, not only the working principle of various sunscreen components will be discussed and illustrated, but tips on how to use sunscreen wisely will also be provided.

This talk provides a brief introduction of urban health and management and related challenges in Hong Kong.

I will talk about antimicrobial resistance and what it is. I will also explain the One Health concept and put the antimicrobial resistance in that perspective. Then I will talk about bacterial evolution and the way bacteria evolve towards resistance. I will highlight the resistance problems in veterinary medicine and the do’s and don’ts about the use of antimicrobials. The latter will be mainly about the treatment of infections, explaining the difference between viruses and bacteria and that antibiotics do not help when the infection is caused by a virus. This should take about 45 minutes, leaving about 15 minutes for questions and interaction.

We use smartphones to take photos and videos all the time, but how do we make a mini-film? How do we decide on what to include in the frame? How should we tell stories through our films? We will explore how to make a little film like a filmmaker during the workshop.

In this talk, the speaker will introduce the discovery of various chemical elements, including their origin, physical/chemical properties, and applications. Additionally, captivating chemistry experiments will be demonstrated.

Overview and explanations of the different aspects of the daily life of a general practice equine veterinarian, from routine procedures and frequent cases to common emergency situations.

3D modeling is one of the applications that best embodies the integration of innovation and technology into life.

In the programming workshop, we will first introduce the students to the overview of the 3D modeling introductory platform ""Tinkercad"" and use programming to design lifelike 3D objects. Before starting to design, students need to first understand the X-axis, Y-axis, Z-axis and center point in 3D space, and apply the knowledge of coordinate axes in middle school mathematics classes. With the cooperation of the software, students can turn the images in their minds into virtual forms that are almost realistic by adding their own imagination. We will also apply the design thinking process with basic circuit design using Tinkercad

3D建模是最能體現創科融入生活的應用之一。利用編程將我們生活空間中許多實物，通過3D數據在虛擬空間構建出來。

在編程工作坊中，我們會先向同學簡介3D建模入門平台「Tinkercad」的概況，利用編程設計栩栩如生的3D物件。動手設計前，需要先認識到3D 空間中的X軸，Y軸，Z軸和中心點，應用到中學數學課中坐標軸的知識。同學們在軟件配合下，只要加入自己豐富的想象力，就能將存於腦海中的 影像變成幾可亂真的虛擬形態。我們也將使用 Tinkercad 將設計思維流程應用於基本電路設計。

This course introduces the basic forms, dimensions, and conceptual frameworks of global marketing, identifies and analyzes the dynamic relationship between standardization and localization, that is, “think globally and act locally.” Examples are provided to offer a taste of the class.
