Outbound Student Exchange Programme

Introduction

To enrich the learning experience and broaden the regional/global exposures, students are encouraged to undertake exchange studies at the partner institutions of CityU. Upon completion of the relevant courses at the Host University, students participating in all levels of exchange programmes (institutional, college and departmental level) can apply for transferring their earned credits to their CityU academic programmes*.

*Before applying for the student exchange programmes, students should discuss their study plan with their major leaders. Prior to departure for student exchange, they are REQUIRED to complete and submit the application form for pre-approval for credit transfer to the PHY General Office.

Outbound Student Exchange Stories

Exchange offers you a new lifestyle

“I was surprised by National Chiao Tung University’s well-developed education system on science and engineering. There were a lot of good professors in NCTU, and they designed a lot of comprehensive and useful courses for students. The students were diligent that they spent a lot of time on study and they always do more than enough. How about the leisure activities? I think the most important thing was sports - every single student would do sports after class. In the evening, you would see many students and professors running around the campus (the campus was indeed very big). Other students would play basketball, football etc. I was stocked to see so many students do sports at the same time. In short, I think study and sports are the two key elements of their university life, and these two elements made my exchange life simple but enjoyable.”

Exchange gives you a lot of perspective on your life

“I would say Hong Kong is one of the liveliest places in the world and a semester at CityU gives you an unforgettable experience. You will be situated in Kowloon Tong at the bottom of the Beacon Hill.  You can easily commute all over the city with the convenient MTR. It allows you to go hiking, shopping, surfing, camping, partying and much more. It has been a happy time with a lot of adventures. I’m grateful for all the new friends from all over the world. A semester abroad gives you a lot of perspective on your life, background and the things you cherish. I recommend taking at least one class which teaches you about China and its culture, so you will have a better understanding of Hong Kong and its culture with both Chinese and British history. I would recommend everyone that has the opportunity, to go on exchange to CityU.”
