The Physics Student Chapter at the CityU organised an exciting event on 17 Sep 2023, involving 20 students to watch the renowned movie “Oppenheimer” in a cinema hall. The movie is a biographical drama that portrays the life and work of Julius Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who led the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. The screening aimed to educate and inspire students about the historical and ethical context of groundbreaking scientific discoveries.
Participants were required to complete a questionnaire to share their thoughts and opinions on various aspects of the film, as well as reflect on how it resonates with their academic pursuits, before and after the movie. Prof. Yu Wing Chi and Prof. Zhang Ge, the PHY Student Chapter Advisors, evaluated these responses. Two attendees who provided the most insightful reflections will be awarded an HKD 100 book coupon at the Student Awards Presentation 2023 on the 4 Dec 2023.
