To welcome the new coming postgraduate students joining the PHY family, the Department held the online Student Orientations for MSc Applied Physics Students and Research Students via Zoom on 31 August and 24 September 2020, respectively.
It was the very first year the Department launched the MSc in Applied Physics programme. The Orientation for MSc Applied Physics Students began with a warm welcome speech by Professor Xun-Li Wang, Head of the Department. The first cohort students were then briefed on important programme information and laboratory safety.
On the other hand, at the Orientation for Research Students, the new research students were briefed on important information, including coursework requirements, qualifying examination arrangement, their responsibilities, their role as teaching assistants, laboratory regulations, as well as the research students' award and penalty system.
