Outline
Programme Aims and Objectives

The objective of the curriculum is to provide prospective students with a professional education that not only imparts new knowledge but also opens up new relationships with industry leaders. Students who complete our MBA will gain better ideas on their professional goals and how to achieve them through seminars, symposiums, networking events, and beyond. 

Upon completing the program, students will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of business and develop cutting-edge managerial abilities
  • Incorporate multidisciplinary perspectives to cultivate proficient problem-solving skills
  • Develop powerful leadership and communication abilities
  • Integrate ethical, environmental, and social factors into corporate operations
Entrance Requirements

When considering an applicant, we consider the following factors:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent;
  • Preferably with 2 years of relevant work experience; and
  • GMAT:
    • GMAT is not required for applicants with two years of work experience at the time of application.
    • If you have less than two years of work experience at the time of application, you may choose to apply first. Should you be admitted, your offer will be conditional on your GMAT score.
    • GMAT institution codes: 54Q-QT-88 (full-time); 54Q-QT-22 (part-time).
  • GRE: For candidates who have taken the GRE, you may use it in place of GMAT.
  • We will invite shortlisted candidates to attend an interview with the Programme Leader or Associate Programme Leader.

Applicants who obtain these entrance qualifications from an institution where the medium of instruction is NOT English must also fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement:

  • a score of 79 (Internet-based test) in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)@#; or
  • an overall band score of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)@; or
  • a score of 450 in the new College English Test (CET6) of Chinese mainland or a pass in the old CET-6 test; or
  • other equivalent qualifications.

TOEFL and IELTS scores are valid for two years. Applicants are required to provide their English test results obtained within the two years preceding the commencement of the University's application period. 

@ TOEFL iBT Home Edition, TOEFL MyBest Score, IELTS Indicator, IELTS One Skill Retake and IELTS Online are NOT accepted.

# Applicants must arrange with the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to send their TOEFL results directly to the University. The TOEFL institution code for CityUHK is 3401.

Course Description

Applicants may consider the following dual degree programmes (58 credits):

  • MBA+MScF (Finance)
  • MBA+MScBIS (Business Information Systems)
  • MBA+MScBDA (Business and Data Analytics)

In addition, applicants may study a General MBA (40 credits) or MBA Concentration (one concentration: 49 credits; double concentrations: 58 credits) in Accounting, Digital Marketing, Financial Technology, Information Management and Data Analytics, Supply Chain Analytics. 

Finally, students may consider an accelerated path to Juris Doctor (JD), in which students would gain knowledge in business and law to reach unique career opportunities.

Special notes for Dual Degree Programmes:

  • Students taking the MBA dual degree programmes are required to submit a separate application to MScF/MScBIS/MScBDA during their final semester of study. Upon successfully fulfilling the programme and graduation requirements, students will be conferred two degrees.
  • For the dual degree programmes, credit transfer for work completed prior the MBA and MScF/MScBIS/MScBDA will not be considered.

Admission is on a space-available basis.
Non-local applicants are highly encouraged to apply early to allow sufficient time for student visa application and preparation for studying in Hong Kong.

† Combined mode: Local students taking programmes in combined mode can attend full-time (12-18 credit units per semester) or part-time (no more than 11 credit units per semester) study in different semesters without seeking approval from the University. For non-local students, they will be admitted to these programmes for either full-time or part-time studies. Non-local students must maintain the required credit load for their full-time or part-time studies and any changes will require approval from the University.
