Programme Aims and Objectives

  • To educate students to excel in advanced mechanical engineering discipline as well as to extend the boundaries of their professional competence to meet the needs of future industrial development.
  • To provide opportunities for students to develop leadership and creativity by engaging in interactive learning environments and management studies.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs):

  1. ACQUIRE essential concepts and knowledge of advanced mechanical engineering as well as across the boundaries of interdisciplinary disciplines;
  2. APPLY specialized knowledge to solve problems that are critical to future growth of industry and business;
  3. WORK effectively with people possessing diverse educational and experiential backgrounds in mechanical related disciplines;
  4. APPLY interdisciplinary teamwork to develop abilities to meet the increasingly competitive and dynamically changing world market.

  • 5 core courses + 5 elective taught courses; or
  • 5 core courses + dissertation + 2 elective taught courses

Entrance Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the University's general entrance requirements and the following programme entrance requirements.

  • Hold a degree in engineering or equivalent;
  • Applicants must have mechanical engineering or related engineering academic background.

Note: Final year undergraduate students who will acquire the requisite academic qualification before the commencement of the programme may apply for admission.

 

English Proficiency Requirement

Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is not English should also fulfil the following minimum English proficiency requirement:

  • TOEFL @ score of 59 (revised paper-delivered test) or 79 (internet-based test); or
  • Overall band score 6.5 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) @ ; or
  • Score 450 in the College English Test (CET-6); or
  • Other equivalent qualifications.

TOEFL@ and IELTS scores are considered valid for two years. Applicants are required to provide their English test results obtained within the two years preceding the commencement of the University's application period.
