In collaboration with the Jockey Club Academy Hall, the Library was honored to have invited Mr. Owen Lau, one of the authors of the popular book 《後金正日的天堂》:金正日死後,首批旅客在北韓的見聞》 and the co-founder of “North Korean Defectors Concern” to share his travel experiences in North Korea as written in his publication. Mr. Lau graduated from City University of Hong Kong and he is now a secondary school teacher of Liberal Studies.
In this sharing session, Mr. Lau talked about human rights and the lives of North Korean defectors. He showed photos taken in North Korea and played excerpts from a film titled "Winter Butterfly" which is directed by a film director who is one of a defectors living in North Korea during the four-year famine in the 1990s. The film tells the story of a mother and her son in North Korea in face of starvation and have a tragic ending. Mr. Lau closed his speech by sharing with audiences concerns to the North Korean defectors.
