Book Exhibition and Reception
A
book exhibition and a reception will be held in the
library to launch the "Friends of the Library". Mr.
Roderick Woo, an ex-council member
of the University, has generously donated
over 8,000 volumes of books to the
Library since 2000. We are honored
to have Mr. Woo as our honorary friend of the Library. The
reception will be held in the Library with details below:
Date: 24 June 2004
(Thursday)
Time: 2:30
p.m.
Venue: Library Lobby,
CityU
A selection of the donated books
will be on display
from 24 June 2004 to 12 July 2004 in the Library
Lobby.
These donations cover a broad range of subjects, thus showing Mr. Woo's wide
reading interests and personal love for books. There are books on law,
overseas Chinese, China, Hong Kong, fine arts, oriental and western
literature as well as autobiography and biography. Among them are
notable works by Nobel Prize laureates and Pulitzer Prize winners.
Some
of the items are pre-1900
publications which have already gone out of print and are difficult to
obtain from the retail market. The donated books are undoubtedly valuable
additions to our Library holdings.
