Endodontic disease, affecting dental pulp, is a common presenting complaint in veterinary patients. If you have ever agonized over the decision to extract that large fractured carnassial or that “healthy” mandibular canine tooth, this lecture will help you understand the disease process further so you can make informed clinical decisions. Dr Nadine Fiani, BVSc (Hons), DAVDC
Nadine Fiani graduated with a veterinary science degree from the University of Sydney in 2005. Whilst undergoing an internship in small animal medicine and surgery, she became interested in advanced veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. Dr Fiani went on to complete a three-year conforming residency training program in Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the University of California, Davis, Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. She successfully passed her specialist board exams and became a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College in 2013. She is currently the Assistant Clinical Professor and Section Chief of Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr Nadine Fiani, Section Chief of Dentistry and Oral Surgery at Cornell University, presented a seminar at CityU on the 28th of February. Her seminar focused on endodontics and alveolar tissue damage – the first time these topics have been covered in Hong Kong. Pulp damage is seen commonly but not often managed appropriately. Dr Fiani’s seminar gave the Hong Kong veterinarians a great opportunity to learn myriad tips and tricks to better manage teeth with endodontic or alveolar tissue damage.
