Appointments

Professor Huang Yi-hui has been appointed Chair Professor of Communication and Media. Professor Huang, who assumed duty on 15 January 2020, received her PhD from the University of Maryland, US, and has been Professor in the School of Journalism and Communication at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Professor and Head of the Department of Advertising, and Director of the Research and Development Center at the College of Communication, National Chengchi University. 

Professor Wang Jianping of the Department of Computer Science has been appointed Assistant Provost (Strategic Planning) with effect from 10 January 2020.

Kudos

Two new titles in Chinese published by CityU Press have been selected by the magazine Yazhou Zhoukan as the 2019 Ten Best Titles (Non-fiction). They are China’s Moment? From Unrefined Wealth and Strength to a Civilized Society by Xu Jilin and Construction of the Modern State in China by Ren Jiantao.

Dr Wang Cong, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, has received the IEEE INFOCOM Test of Time Paper Award 2020 for his co-authored paper “Achieving Secure, Scalable, and Fine-Grained Data Access Control in Cloud Computing,” published in the 2020 proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications (IEEE INFOCOM). The Award will be presented to Dr Wang in the opening session of IEEE INFOCOM 2020 to be held in Beijing, China in April 2020 in recognition of his outstanding achievement.
