CityU Tiger Featured Talk - The Flow of Turtle Soup: How Historians Study Food to Understand the World

The Talent and Education Development Office (TED) organised a captivating talk featuring Professor CHING May Bo, Head of the Department of Chinese and History, to deliver an interesting topic of her study –Turtle Soup for our Tigers and the CityU community.

During the talk, Professor CHING gave a lively presentation on the transnational history of turtle soup, exploring the flow of species, tastes, culinary techniques, and food technology across three continents over more than three centuries.

After the talk, Professor CHING provided participants with valuable suggestions on how to work with historical archives and materials. Participants were also encouraged to freely ask any questions they had and were advised to undergo training to acquire the necessary research methodologies and enjoy the process of learning.
