Career change from one field to another often requires much time, energy, and courage. In this webinar, Dr. Elly Chow, a graduate of the former Department of Biology and Chemistry at CityU, shared with students how she successfully transformed her professional life from a Biologist to a Patent Attorney. Participants were given a glimpse into the world of Intellectual Property (IP). Dr. Chow explained to the audience the types of Intellectual Property, the differences between trademark and copyright, and some key takeaways to protecting IP. Apart from sharing insights into IP, she also explained the importance of networking and making connections proactively in the community. The talk was concluded with an interactive Q&A session and a saying she lives by, which is to “Make Each Day Count”. She encouraged students not to idle away time and grasp opportunities whenever possible.
