This course aims to develop research students’ academic skills and research capacities through reading scholarly literature on a topic they choose. It builds the foundation for the students to broaden their knowledge in the areas of language, literature, history, religion, philosophy, arts, culture, and cultural heritage studies. Through a critical assessment of the literature in the students’ fields, the course provides solid methodological training for the students in textual analysis and criticism, data collection, as well as literature review and analysis. Regarding the readings, the students should summarize the main points, criticize the writing styles, and examine the arguments.
