Course Aims

This course aims to provide students with a holistic understanding of and a practical implication of urban design by focusing on local issues in urban design and planning in Hong Kong. This studio offers an innovative interdisciplinary approach to urban design. Base on thirty selected topics - related to specific lectures - the course aims to provide the students with new disciplinary tools for the observation of current Hong Kong territorial developments from a different perspective, and for the proposal of the most advance urban design strategies in the improvement of the local built environment. The project will focus on the New Territory of Hong Kong, questioning the possible regeneration of brownfield and drosscapes. The expected outcomes are a series of scenarios and detailed design proposals.
