Although my one-month exchange to the University of British Columbia is something I consider to be unexpected, it is a welcome surprise. In summary, I applied with the impression that my application to the Global Experience for All Funding Scheme (GEAFS) would be unsuccessful, however, this proved to be the opposite. This enabled me to afford the exchange program I now hold in high esteem that is the Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) by the University of British Columbia.
To begin with, I am a Biomedical Science student, and applying to the VSP allowed me to simultaneously explore the field I am currently in and widen my horizons. Upon doing the course package Introduction to Clinical Medicine and Scientific Research in the Hospital Setting I was placed in the perspective of a Medical Doctor and Researcher, respectively.
The course about clinical medicine allowed me to explore things as if I were a medical student. Although compressed in 2 weeks, it was highly informative and put medicine in a different light.
